Beautiful ride on Mary Ingles Highway

Today, from late morning to early afternoon, Marc, David, Andre (hopefully, a future member of the club), and I (Lucas) headed over the Purple People Bridge and out on a relatively flat Route 8 in KY.  It was my first outdoor ride of the season, and ended at about 77km, since I live downtown, while Marc and David did about 120km!  Andre was battling some allergies and needed to cut his ride a bit short, but since we didn't see him on our way back, we assumed he made it home in one piece.  My average was right at 18mph, which felt like a decent pace considering.  It was a chilly and challenging first ride of the season for me, but Marc and David were great motivators, and we finished strong.  It'd be great to get more people out there so we can make a bigger presence on the road!  :-)

Mini 15 Km: layers up and run!

Today (March 15th 2015) was the annual Heart Mini Run, to collect funds for the American Heart Association (AHA).  Marc, Matt and I (Carineregistered for the 15K run. It was my first long run after this cold and snowing winter. I didn’t train much outside. The Flying Pig half marathon is coming soon, (first weekend of May) this race is going to be my training for the half marathon. The weather was cold (I would have preferred staying home), so I had to motivate myself in doing it.

7.30am the race started, the 5th street, in downtown Cincinnati, was packed! I was zigzagging between runners and walkers to find my wayAfter reaching 10k, I started to feel tired but I had to keep going and climbing these big hills. already ran 2/3 of the race, only 5K left, almost there! The last big hill was tough but I made it. After crossing the finish line, it felt really good to stop running J  I checked my time later after the race and I was quite happy about it; I ran 15k in 1:29:06; which is a good pace for me

Even though the weather was cold (1C degree), I had a great time with my friends and teammates! I am looking forward for the next race. Go Jovent 79!

Winter is not over....indoor training for a bit longer!!

After getting flavors of spring the time of a trail run and long ride, we are now back to the real winter. It is cold and we got quite a lot of snow during the last week...we all try to enjoy as much as possible that making snowmen.

Aside, the winter "fun", we are adapting the best we can the training to get the best of our indoor time. We are keeping the swim session alternating between pyramid - sprint set - technique session.

Our main issue so far is the run....It's really hard to keep a good volume of running and motivation with this long winter. To get back on the run, we are adapting now our training to stay indoor while running...using the elliptical and treadmill.

I used to feel really dizzy at the end of this training, but it seems to get better...2 or 3 more weeks and we should be good to get back outdoor
